"You often say, 'I would give, but only to the deserving.' The trees in your orchard say not so, nor the flocks in your pasture. They give that they may live, for to withhold is to perish."
- Kahlil Gibran
Dear Reader,
Life is ultimately not about what we receive, but what we can give.
All of nature points us to this fact.
To a tree, giving is a matter of survival. The tree that spreads the most seeds is the one that gives away the most fruit.
Every ecosystem relies upon and is sustained upon mutual giving, whether intentional or not.
Why would we think human life would be any different?
Following nature, we can see in our own lives that the greatest joy comes from giving joy to others.
The greatest ease to emotional pain is easing the emotional pain of others.
The greatest wealth comes from using it to build something worthwhile.
When you give, you follow in the footsteps of nature.
And when you follow in the footsteps of nature, you align yourself with peace, wisdom, and joy.
Today's Reflection:
What is your greatest gift that you may give to others? What do you possess that can make the world a better place (time, talents, resources) when given away?
Peace, love, and joy to you.
Your friend,
